Two studies demonstrated that men’s (but not women’s) cognitive performance declined if they were led to believe that they were interacting with a member of the opposite sex via a computer or even if men merely anticipated a later interaction with a woman.

Ughghghgh come on guys it’s not even men’s fault that they don’t work well with women! They can’t help it, it’s how their brains are wired! Give me a break. If men are programmed to treat every interaction with a woman as “a subtle form of exposure to a potential mate” rather than, you know, an interaction with a person, I’d like to see some proof that this is genetic and not a result of social cues. But also I don’t buy it, period. We should be more careful about who we call “researchers” and what we let them use the word “science” in reference to.
